We’re not in the business of chasing anyone out of Celtic or starting rumours to that effect. We do, however, report and commentate on things being said about the club and the places they’re coming from.
We decided to run the story below as the Scottish media have now got a hold of the quotes and will no doubt be having a field day with things in the lead up to the Glasgow Derby.
Australian sports pundit Andy Maher claims Ange Postecoglou will leave Celtic in the summer for Leeds, provided they’re still in the EPL.
The Australian claims he has a solid source who believes this will be Ange’s last season in Glasgow before heading to the English Premier League.
Speaking on SEN’s The Run Home and cited by FoxSports Australia, Maher told of his source: “I’ve got a snout who’s quite hooked into Australian soccer. He’s given me a steer here and there and on enough occasions he’s been right. Gives me a call this morning adamant that this will be Ange Postecoglou’s last year at Celtic, and he will be leaving at the end of the year. And that he will be, it depends on survival in the Premier League, he will be taking one of two positions.

“But predominantly and most likely it will be the position at Leeds. Peter Lowy, son of Frank, bought into Leeds (in late 2021).
“One of his assistant coaches at Celtic is Harry Kewell, of course a celebrated Leeds player. Huge club, massive upside, struggling to hold onto their position in the Premier League.
“The temptation of being the manager to restore Leeds to Champions League-type contention and top-four, top-six status in the Premier League would be appealing to anyone. This snout is telling me, watch this space, at the end of the season it’s going to happen.”
We have to note Maher isn’t a typical Scottish journalist looking to make trouble or rumours about the Celtic manager before a cup final. However, he hasn’t got a track record pulling any exclusives out the bag when it comes to Ange or Celtic.
We also see Leeds are about to appoint a new manager in Javi Garcia as reported by Peter O’Rourke. There are multiple things in play for this even to be an issue.
Celtic fans feel Ange has unfinished business when it comes to European football. We know the Australian has a desire to manager in the EPL one day. We’d be surprised if that day came in the summer.
We’re not daft enough to predict or set our stall out on anyone at Celtic staying or going. Football is a funny old game and things can happen quickly.
Right now, it should be no concern to any Celtic fan. We’re about to get into the real business end of the season. It could be a memorable end to the campaign if the bhoys can keep up their form and we know that will be the full focus for Ange and his backroom team.
