Celtic coach, JOHN KENNEDY has revealed he’s crossed paths with Ibrox boss Michael Beale on plenty of occasions before he took up both his assistant role and manager’s position at Ibrox.
Beale will be in the opposite dugout to John at Hampden on Sunday as the two teams fight it out for the first silverware of the season.
Much has been made of Beale’s petulance as Ibrox assistant boss when he tried to have a go at Kennedy on the touchline, John not even flinching as Beale went berserk.
Revisiting things, John knows all about Michael but admits he hasn’t spoken to the Englishman since his return to Scotland.
He told SunSport: “I’ve come across Michael a couple of times at various coaching things, we’ve crossed paths many times over the years.
“I’ve not spoken to him since he came back to Scotland. As I said, we’ve crossed paths doing badges and stuff but we never really had any relationship outside that.
“I was only speaking to the referee back then [in 2019], it wasn’t much to be honest.”
Players and coaches taking their badges from rival sides is nothing new. Friendships can be made on these intense courses at people look to get the qualification to set themselves up for a career at the top levelS
John has always conducted himself with class, even at some very stressful times at Celtic Park. The same can’t be said for others.
The cup final takes place at Hampden, Sunday at 3pm. It promises to be a memorable occasion and we hope John is alongside Ange when he’s holding the trophy.
