SCOTT BROWN has been heavily linked to the St Mirren job after Jim Goodwin headed the other way. Brown is a player/coach in the North East and is in contention for the Paisley job.
However, former Scotland international Steven Naismith is also under ‘serious’ consideration for the job. [Sun Sport]
A youth coach at Hearts, Naismith is also looking to take his first steps into management, and Anne Budge is likely to grant the coach permission to speak to The Buddies.
St Mirren has asked Aberdeen to meet with Scott Brown to discuss the vacant position. Goodwin is keen to keep the midfielder around but has cast doubt over whether or not the former Celtic captain will continue in his coaching role.
“I had a brief conversation with Scott on Friday. I said I am looking forward to meeting him on Monday at the training centre and that’s where we are at.” Goodwin said.

“His title is there as player-coach. I am very hands-on on the training pitch and I haven’t had time to look at the structure but I take the majority of sessions backed up by my assistant Lee Sharp.
