Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has heaped praise on the Hoops fans, but the 55-year old isn’t getting carried away, insisting this is just the beginning, and he doesn’t deserve that yet.
As quoted by the Daily Record, Postecoglou was full of praise for the Celtic faithful and the reception he received. But at this early stage, he feels it is a little unwanted and is looking forward to getting to work and earning that.
Asked about the reception he got, pre and post-match, he said: “It was special. To be fair, the supporters have been unbelievable since I got here.
“At the moment, I feel it’s a little bit unwarranted – I haven’t done anything yet.
“The way they have embraced me, even the other night, I just felt the need to acknowledge them.
“They’ve been so supportive since I got here, but inside I feel I don’t deserve it yet.
“There’s still a long way to go, and I need to achieve things at this football club and make the supporters proud of this team.
“Hopefully, when I’m done, I’ll eventually walk away knowing I’ve been part of something special.”
As crowds return to see competitive football at Celtic Park once again, they couldn’t have asked for much better games to return to than the last two fixtures.
The level of performance at such an early stage of Postecoglou’s reign has started to gain momentum, and fans are beginning to see the outlines of his side.
It is exciting to see that there is even more to come with hard work on the training ground, which is exactly what Celtic fans will want to hear.
