CELTIC announced the signing of Oliver Abildgaard late on Thursday night, completing a move from Rubin Kazan and signing a 1-year deal with the Hoops.
The midfielder’s arrival excites many fans; he’ll sit in front of the defence and add a real presence to the Celtic side. He’s a physical player and will link the defence to the attack with ease. It’s what the side’s been missing since Scott Brown left.
Abildgaard has revealed he has strong family connections to the Hoops after a photo of him celebrating his ninth birthday in the Hoops was released by Celtic.

The midfielder’s Grandad, who lives in Aberdeen, is a Celtic fan and could soon be watching his Grandson play against Europe’s best in the Champions League.
Speaking to Celtic TV, Celtic’s deadline day signing revealed;
“My granddad, he lives in Aberdeen and is a huge Celtic fan. Maybe that’s where it comes from.
“This is a day I’ve been very much looking forward to ever since I heard the possibility of coming here.”
Saturday’s match will likely come too soon for the Danish international, with international clearance still to be granted. It’ll be interesting to see what role he plays in the team when he’s available for selection.
