MIKEY JOHNSTON has revealed that Jota had given the winger some advice before heading up to Portugal to join Primeira Liga side Vitoria Guimaraes on loan for the season.
Before the winger departed Celtic, the club announced that he had extended his contract by a year, hinting the manager has high hopes for the player. It will also add value to the player once he returns from Portugal, especially if he plays well during his loan spell.
It was unlikely that he would have got a chance at Celtic this season, with the manager strengthening the winder areas during the summer.
It’s hoped that the winger can realise his potential and get some consistent game time on loan.
Speaking after signing for the club, he revealed that Jota had told him a lot about the team and admitted his excitement. He said; [Vitoria’s Website]
“In the locker room, I’ll be a good influence, talk to everyone, I like to get along with everyone, I like to laugh, so I can’t wait to meet everyone.
“I know it’s a great club, often going to Europe. I spoke to friends who are here; they say it’s a great club; I spoke to Jota from Celtic, who also spoke very well of the club.”
We wish Mikey all the best; there’s some talent in him for sure. He just has to realise it and demonstrate it on a consistent basis. The Celtic boss has talked up the player in recent times, so it’s likely that Ange will be keeping a close eye on Johnston’s progress this season.
