Speculation has been widespread this summer about a potential return to Celtic for left-back Kieran Tierney. The majority of supporters seem to be behind a move, although according to Football Scotland, another team looks to have swooped in.
La Liga side Real Sociedad have made a loan bid to Arsenal for Tierney, and they hope to convince the 26-year-old to move to Spain for the 2023/24 season. The defender has struggled for minutes in North London and was dropped for new signing Jurrien Timber in the FA Community Shield final at the weekend. The Scotland international did make an appearance off the bench as the Gunners went on to win on penalties, though.

Sociedad’s move for Tierney, in all likelihood, kills off any Celtic interest. The club can offer the player much greater wages than the Hoops and the chance to play in a top-five league against the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona. Despite this, the left-back is a boyhood Hoops supporter, but his potential move back to Glasgow always seemed like a pipe dream.
Nevertheless, it does appear that this deal is nowhere near completion. Celtic could be watching proceedings as we speak, and there is lots of time left in the window. Anything can happen in the transfer market, but a move to Sociedad would seem more realistic for Tierney than to Celtic.
