Mikael Lustig is celebrating a new contract with Swedish club AIK after the he and the club came to an agreement over an extension.

The Celtic hero left the club after our third treble when Celtic and Mikael failed to negotiate a new deal. The defender went to Gent but only managed a season where he wasn’t utilised as well as he’d like.

Moving to AIK has been great for Mikael and it’s positive he’s back in his homeland after all these years — they clearly appreciate his contribution to the team and have rewarded him with a new one-year deal.

The Swedish right back was an integral part of Celtic’s incredible dominance. A huge part of the invincible treble side and his last real action for the club was putting Odsonne Edouard clean through on goal to clinch the treble treble.

He’s an incoming figure at Celtic Park and we wish him the best for the rest of this season and next.
