SFA Chief Reacts to Clarke to Celtic Speculation

SFA CHIEF EXECUTIVE Ian Maxwell says he’s confident Steve Clarke will still be the Scotland manager next season after the Euro’s despite rumours linking him with the Celtic job

Clarke was asked about his future this week by a group of young Scotland fans on social media. The former Killie boss says he’s looking forward to the the Euro’s before taking a long holiday and preparing for the World Cup qualifiers.

Celtic need a manager in place before mid-July which would almost rule out any manager heading to the Euro’s.

If Clarke and Scotland and bow out after the group stage, there is time for him to come in and sort of the team but it would be a rush.

The club need to look at top coaches who can come in as early as June and hit the ground running. The Champions league qualifiers mean the club are working to a hard deadline.
