We’ve been letting our readers know for some time now that we believe Eddie Howe to Celtic is in the bag.
What’s been a mystery is why it’s taking Celtic so long to announce the deal.
RecordSport look to have nailed the current position, a theory we have floated in the past. Eddie Howe’s contract with Bournemouth is still ongoing and it would stand to pay out a sizeable bonus should the Cherries get back into the EPL. That would be the same for the coaching staff as well. Two of which Eddie wants at Parkhead with him.
That means the countdown is on but we don’t have a definitive date because Bournemouth are in the playoffs.
They play their second leg of their semi-final playoff against Brentford on Saturday. The Cherries are 1-0 up from the first leg and are favourites to go through to the final.
However, if Brentford were to knock them out, it would clear the way for Celtic to announce Eddie Howe. If they get to the final, then we’re looking towards the end of May before promotion is settled and the deals can be concluded.
