Celtic’s Pre-Contract Deal: More Info Emerges

Back in January, Celtic completed the signing of Liam Shaw on a pre-contract from recently relegated English Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

From the deal, not much of it has been reported after it had been complete.

But now, reports from Football League World suggest that Shaw turned down an offer of around £3000 per week to extend his stay at his boyhood club and his old side missed out on keeping him by refusing a very modest wage increase/

In making a move to Celtic, it might not have been all about the money for Shaw but rather the chance to have the possibility of playing in Europe. But you would imagine to turn down that deal at his boyhood side; he would be earning around the same at the Hoops.

Going into next season, no one is really sure what to expect of Shaw as a player. That added with the club currently not having a first-team manager in place.

As technically the last signing of the Neil Lennon era, it will be interesting to see where the 20-year old features in the side and whether he can impress the new management team whenever they are in place.

Of course, one of his first games for the club could be against his former side, Sheffield Wednesday, in pre-season.
