Former Celtic goalkeeper and club legend Packie Bonnar believes that under the circumstances, next weekends derby at Celtic Park could end up with both sides sharing the spoils.
Speaking to the Scottish Sun, Bonnar thinks that the Ibrox side are coming into this game on-form and without the aspect of fans, it could allow them to relax more.
”They’re at home also but Rangers are playing very well.
“Their players will be high in confidence and I think the crowd not being there will allow Rangers to come and play with a little bit more confidence and be more relaxed at Celtic Park than the norm and that will be interesting to see how that pans out. Don’t be surprised to see it being a draw.”
We have seen derbies in the past with only one set of fans at the game but never have we seen one without any.
It should certainly make the game an interesting one to watch, with no spectators being allowed inside Celtic Park.
This has the potential to work for, or against both sides. Either the pressure is off so it allows them to play or there isn’t that extra motivation and boost from the supporters that you would usually receive.
For Neil Lennon, he will certainly be hoping there is no greater inspiration than winning this game, for all the supporters sat at home watching right now.
This has the potential to be such a huge game, early on in the season, so it will be interesting to see how both sets of players are affected by the dynamic of no fans.
