Barry Ferguson’s Celtic Penalty Verdict

BARRY FERGUSON believes that Celtic should’ve been awarded a penalty in the Glasgow Derby draw on Monday.

The Hoops scored first, with Maeda picking up Morelos’ slack pass inside five minutes. But Rangers responded in the second half, getting themselves in front, with just six minutes between the goals.

As Celtic chased an equaliser, there were claims of a handball, which VAR looked at. After a brief pause to review the incident, Willie Collum somehow didn’t see illegal activity, and John Beaton waved play on.

VAR handball

It’s caused an uproar, with almost everyone admitting it should’ve resulted in a spot kick. Even Barry Ferguson said on the Go Radio Football Show that he believed it was a penalty. He said:

“I watched it a couple of times and, for me, Connor Goldson’s arms and hands are in an unnatural position and I thought it was a penalty. I think Rangers have got away with one there.

“if you’re asking for my honest opinion, it strikes Connor Goldson’s hand and I thought straight away it was a penalty.”

If Barry Ferguson is admitting that Celtic were done wrong by VAR, it’s a big mistake from the officials!

Celtic still managed to find an equaliser, with Kyogo finding the back of the net with just two minutes of the ninety to play.
