Former Celtic goalkeeper and quadruple treble penalty hero Conor Hazard has helped Plymouth Argyle pull off one of the biggest FA Cup shocks in recent years, knocking out Liverpool at Anfield.
The Irish shot-stopper, who struggled to establish himself as a regular at Celtic, has found a home on the south coast of England.
Hazard has been instrumental in Plymouth’s cup run, having already helped them eliminate Premier League side Brentford in the previous round. Against Liverpool, he produced a commanding performance, making crucial saves to deny Arne Slots men as they huffed and puffed but couldn’t break down a resilient Plymouth defence. The game ending 1-0.

During his time at Celtic, Hazard made just a handful of appearances, with his most memorable moment coming in the 2020 Scottish Cup final. Thrown into the starting XI for the showpiece against Hearts, he was the hero in the penalty shootout, saving two spot-kicks to seal Celtic’s historic quadruple treble.
Despite that, he never nailed down a starting spot at Parkhead, spending time on loan at Dundee, Partick Thistle, and Finnish side HJK Helsinki before making his permanent switch to Plymouth in 2023.
Now, at 26, Hazard is proving his quality on a bigger stage, playing week in, week out and showing why he was once rated so highly at Celtic. His heroics against Liverpool will only enhance his growing reputation, and it’s great to see him thriving after his time in Glasgow.
