Adam Montgomery played his part in one of the biggest upsets in Scottish Cup this season as Queen’s Park knocked Rangers out of the competition with a 1-0 victory at Ibrox.

The former Celtic left-back came off the bench in the 72nd minute, with his side clinging onto a narrow lead and defending for their lives against relentless Rangers pressure. Montgomery’s defensive contributions helped his team hold firm in the closing stages of an incredible cup tie.
The only goal of the game came from Seb Drozd, whose second-half strike gave Queen’s Park a shock lead. But the real drama unfolded in stoppage time when Rangers were awarded a 95th-minute penalty, offering them a lifeline.
However, Calum Ferrie produced a heroic penalty save to deny James Tavernier, sealing an historic victory for Queen’s Park.
While Montgomery wasn’t on the pitch for long, his introduction was vital as Queen’s Park looked to shore up their defence and see out the result. The Celtic loanee showed his defensive discipline and composure, helping to absorb the late Rangers onslaught.
It’s a dream start to Montgomery’s loan spell, and his involvement in such a monumental upset will no doubt boost his confidence as he looks to gain more first-team experience.
