Yuki Kobayashi Could Be Offered J-League Return

Yuki Kobayashi is reportedly set to leave the club on loan in January.

Having struggled to secure regular playing time under Brendan Rodgers since his return to Parkhead, a move back to Japan appears to be on the cards.

Several J League clubs are reportedly interested in offering Kobayashi a return to Japan, with the defender said to be keen on a potential return to Vissel Kobe. Managers in Japan still hold him in high regard, which could facilitate his move back to the J League. [SunSport]

Kobayashi, who joined Celtic on a free transfer from Vissel Kobe last January during Ange Postecoglou’s tenure, has found opportunities limited, making just seven appearances for the club. His situation was further complicated by an injury that thwarted any potential move in the summer transfer window.

Now fully fit, Kobayashi recently featured in a testimonial match for Celtic B, indicating his readiness to play. However, the defender finds himself low in the pecking order at Celtic, overshadowed by the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales, Maik Nawrocki, Nat Phillips, Stephen Welsh, and Gustaf Lagerbielke.

For Kobayashi, a loan move could provide an opportunity to gain regular playing time and continue his development, which has been stymied at Celtic due to the competition for places and his injury issues. With the January transfer window approaching, Kobayashi and his representatives will likely be working to secure a move that allows him to play more regularly and showcase his abilities.
