You’re Playing Into Our Hands – Leipzig Defender Warning to Celtic

Leipzig star Marcel Halstenberg believes Celtic will be playing into his side’s hands on Thursday night when they visit Germany.

Celtic and Leipzig go head to head in the first match of their double header over the next two weeks and the Halstenberg thinks whoever comes out on top in these games will ultimately qualify.

The German defender gave Celtic somewhat of a backhanded compliment by saying they don’t play long ball football but admits it could ultimately be to their detriment.

“Celtic like to play football from the back and that suits us.

“They don’t play the typical British game of hitting long balls from the back to their strikers.

“We have two Finals against Celtic, home and away. For me, I think whoever wins these games will qualify for the next round.

“We have to get the three points. I think Celtic are better than Rosenborg or Augsburg, who we played in our last game in the Bundesliga.”

Celtic flew out on Wednesday afternoon to prepare for Thursday’s game and are looking to get their Euro campaign back on track in Germany.

After winning on matchday one against Rosenborg they suffered a humiliating second half collapse to Salzburg before the international break.

The bhoys got off to a phenomenal start scoring just two minutes into that game but the pressure eventually told.

It’s up to Brendan Rodgers and his team to come up with something different to get a positive result in Germany.
