Young Striker Completes Scottish Championship Loan Move

Celtic striker Jonathan Afolabi has completed a loan move to Scottish Championship side Ayr United until the end of the season.

The Irishman will spend his third season in the second tier of Scottish football, also having spells in the last two campaigns with recently promoted Dundee and Dunfermline.

During his time at Dens Park, the 21-year old played 22 times, scoring four goals as James McPake’s side sealed their return to the top flight.

He will be hoping to show his capabilities with his new side as his contract with the Hoops runs down, and speaking to the club’s website United boss David Hopkin expressed his delight at securing the deal.

“I am absolutely delighted to sign Jonathon for Ayr United Football Club. He is a striker I have wanted to get before but had to be patient. He is a player I have always been interested in as although he is young and still learning the game, he has pace, power and a great left foot.”

Tonight, Ayr kick off their season against Ayrshire rivals Kilmarnock, and after training with his new teammates yesterday, Afolabi could be thrown straight into the action as he goes into the squad for the fixture.

We wish him all the very best on his latest spell out on loan.
