Celtic took French winger Thomas Robert on trial from Airdrie over the past couple of weeks and the player has since returned to his club.
Thomas, son of former Newcastle star Laurent Robert, rejected terms with Montpellier over a new deal last season and instead came to the UK in search of opportunities.
It was seen as a bit of a coup for Airdrie and a decision from Thomas Robert which put game time and putting himself in the window higher up the list than simply collecting a wage.
It looks like it will pay off but we’re unsure at this point if it will be at Celtic.
After the trial, the player has gone back to Airdrie, according to Football Insider, the club have not opened any more talks with the player or his reps in the days proceeding his trial at Lennoxtown.
It doesn’t mean to say there won’t be movement but if Celtic are getting close to a managerial appointment, it would make sense to hold off on any more signings until the new man is confirmed.
