‘You Are a Fool’ – Chris Sutton Hits Out After Poor Celtic Comments Live on Air

Chris Sutton put Robbie Savage in his place on Sunday when the former footballer again tried to claim Leicester are a bigger club than Celtic.

Former Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers was sacked from his position as manager after four years with the English club, prompting Savage to ask if Ange Postecoglou would fancy the job at a “bigger club”.

Savage said on Five Live as cited by SunSport: “I see Ange Postecoglou’s been linked Chris, Brendan Rodgers left Celtic to go to a bigger club, what would you think?”

Sutton quickly replied: “You are a fool.

“You think Ange Postecoglou would walk out after what happened with Brendan and the feeling towards Brendan from most Celtic fans still?

“Brendan did a phenomenal job at Celtic. Then he went down to a smaller club in Leicester City, are you telling me Ange Postecoglou right now would walk away from Celtic to go to Leicester in a relegation battle?”

The age old argument that fans of many smaller EPL clubs use. They think because they’re in the Premier League and have access to the riches that comes with that they’re somehow a bigger club.

Leicester is not a bigger club than Celtic. Despite the hoops plying their trade in the Scottish game, they are one of the most well known and recognisable clubs on the planet.

Most English player who sign for Celtic after playing in the EPL quickly realise the size of the club and what it means. While there’s more money floating around at Leicester they’ll never be as big as Celtic.

The thing is, it doesn’t even need to be an argument.

Ange Postecoglou has been linked with so many jobs at this point, two years after Celtic were ridiculed for appointing him. There will be a time where the manager will move on, but even Ange knows it’ll be tough to find a club bigger than Celtic.
