Celtic’s right back hunt went on for most of the transfer window. There were so many names linked with the club in that time — it was hard to decipher fact from fictional times.
One player who was heavily linked with Celtic during the summer before the club eventually brought in Josip Juranovic was Sacha Boey.
The defender moved from Rennes to Galatasaray eventually and even scored against St Johnstone in the Europa League qualifiers.
Boey didn’t mince his words when asked why he turned down Celtic.
Speaking to aslanarenasi the defender said:
“Yes, Celtic wanted to sign me.
“When I had to make a decision, I chose Galatasaray because it was a bigger club. That’s why I chose Galatasaray.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion I suppose.
Celtic signed Josip Juranovic from Legia Warsaw just before the international break. The right back has just played three internationals for Croatia and certainly looks the part.
Boey turning us down looks like a blessing in disguise.
Josip had to play on the left at Ibrox but could find himself at right back against Ross County on Saturday.
