Xabi Alonso last night watched Celtic book their place in the group stage of the Champions League after another pulsating night at Celtic Park, then took to twitter to declare he is dying to sample the red hot atmosphere in the East End of Glasgow.

He wrote:

Another indication of how Celtic Park is viewed outside Scotland and even the U.K.

The atmosphere our fans create on these special European nights reverberates round Europe.

Paolo Maldini once said “Every professional footballer should seek to play at least one game at Celtic Park, I have never felt anything like it”

I don’t think many professionals would argue with that.

Neil Lennon wasn’t shy in his post match interview last night declaring he would love to draw Real Madrid. Maybe Xabi and Neil will get their wish.

I would certainly welcome the tie!
