‘Wow If They Don’t’ – Celtic’s Ambition Brutally Questioned

Andy Walker has taken aim at Celtic’s lack of movement in the transfer market this summer.

With Brendan Rodgers now into the final year of his contract, many expected the club to be more active. Instead, it’s been quiet on the signings front, and fans are starting to lose patience.

Celtic are just two weeks away from a Champions League play-off against Kairat Almaty. It’s a huge tie, not just financially, but in shaping the season ahead. With no new arrivals in sight, frustration is starting to grow in the stands.

Rodgers has said he’s still focused on bringing success to Celtic Park, but the silence in the transfer market has sparked concerns about how serious the club are about backing him. Some feel Rodgers’ situation is on a knife-edge, if Europe or league form goes wrong, pressure will build quickly.

With Rangers making moves and raising the bar across the city, the focus is now on whether Celtic will respond. Walker’s comments echo the mood of many supporters: there’s a real fear the club is standing still off the pitch, even if Rodgers is doing his job on it.

He said: (Go Radio Football Show), “It just seems to be a feeling that, certainly my friends and my family have, you know, the feeling at Celtic is, let’s just be one step ahead of Rangers.

“And when you look at everything that happens, and when you look at all the quotes from Brendan Rodgers, I would be amazed if they don’t sign any players between now and the end of the window.

“But wow, if they really don’t, then I think it tells you where their level of ambition lies.”

Walker’s comments hit on what a lot of supporters are starting to think: the board might not be willing or able to meet the standards Rodgers is pushing for. If that gap isn’t closed, it could cause problems, especially with no new players added as the manager enters the final year of his deal.

Time is running out in the window, and Rodgers needs more options if Celtic are to handle the challenges ahead. The Champions League play-off against Kairat Almaty is coming fast, and the team will need the right help on the park to get through it.

If no signings come in, more pressure will fall on Rodgers, particularly with his contract winding down. Even if results hold up, the quiet transfer window could make talks over his future more difficult or leave him doubting whether the club shares his ambitions.

Fans will be watching closely to see what happens next. If nothing changes before the window closes, Walker’s warning will stick and more people will start asking tough questions about where Celtic are heading.
