‘Won’t Be Done Again’ – Halliday Hails Forrest’s Once-in-a-Generation Feat

Andy Halliday has paid tribute to James Forrest after the Celtic winger capped off a historic season by scoring in his 16th consecutive campaign for the club.

Forrest’s stoppage-time equaliser against St Mirren on trophy day ensured a dramatic finish at Celtic Park, but the goal carried more significance than just salvaging a draw. It marked yet another milestone in an already glittering career for Celtic’s most decorated player of all time.

Speaking on Forrest’s remarkable consistency and longevity, Halliday was full of admiration: [Open Goal]

“I think the fact as well it was an equaliser against St Mirren, do you know what I mean? Didn’t even matter – it was just him scoring and the reaction he got.

“I genuinely don’t think that will get done again. Sixteen consecutive seasons, it’s so hard to stay at a club as big as that. To come through the academy is hard enough and to obviously get a game.”

The goal, Forrest’s first of the season, ensured he became only the fourth player in the club’s history to score in 16 different campaigns. It was a fitting reward for a player whose loyalty, professionalism and output have made him a standout figure across multiple eras at Celtic.

With 26 major honours and now another slice of history, Forrest’s legacy is secure. It was written in the stars that he’d score with virtually the last kick of the ball in the league season.

It was actually the 49th minute of the second half when he scored, wearing the number 49. Fairytale stuff.

We’ll likely never witness a player like Forrrest again, a true one-club man who’s never even had a loan move away from Celtic.
