Winger Insists Squad Are Looking To Build On First Competitive Win

Celtic winger James Forrest has insisted that the squad are looking to build upon the first competitive victory under Ange Postecoglou.

So far, it has been a bit of a tricky start in terms of results for the squad. However, speaking to the club’s official website, the experienced winger insisted that the squad will improve and build upon the performances and results.

“It’s more positive; we’ve not won in the last three competitive games, so it’s good to get a win, score some goals and feel good about ourselves again,” said Forrest after last night’s match. “It also gives us a good lead going into the next game, and hopefully, we can build on that.”

When speaking about the club’s newest recruits, Forrest added: “We’ve not met James McCarthy yet, but some of the boys have been asking about him. Even the presence of Joe Hart when he came in for his first training session was massive.

“I think these are great signings for the club, and I definitely think they’ll help the changing room, the players and the staff as well. It’s really exciting to be playing with players of that quality and experience.

“We conceded a couple of goals against Jablonec; they had a couple of other chances as well, but it was important that we stopped the mini-rut of not winning, and it’s important that we got that first win. Hopefully, we can build on that, and the performances will get better as well.”

Losing out in both the early stages of Champions League qualifying and the league have been disappointing. But at the same time, there have been early signs of positives under the former Socceroos boss.

On Thursday, the same points stuck with fans in terms of negatives but more so the positives with the Hoops looking good going forward and grabbing four goals away from home in Europe.

Of course, there are areas which need to improve and fast. But with that sort of result and performance, confidence will grow, and we now have something to build on going into Sunday’s first game at the home of the league season.
