Ange Postecoglou has answered his critics ahead of the Europa League final, saying he has nothing to regret about claiming he always wins in his second season at clubs. The former Celtic boss made the comment earlier this season, and some have used it against him as Tottenham struggle in the Premier League.
Postecoglou joined Celtic in 2021 and had a very successful time in Glasgow. In his second season, he won a domestic treble—lifting the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup, and League Cup. It was a huge achievement and proved his ability to build a strong team quickly.

Now in charge of Spurs, Postecoglou has a chance to win the Europa League in his second season. Tottenham face Manchester United in the final on Wednesday in Bilbao. If they win, it would be the club’s first major trophy in over 15 years. It would also earn them a place in next season’s Champions League.
However, despite reaching the final, Spurs have had a poor league campaign. They are sitting 17th in the table, with only the three relegated teams below them. Tottenham have lost 21 league matches, and reports suggest that even winning the Europa League might not be enough to save Ange’s job.
He said: (Optus Sport), “No, it just speaks to the facts.
“I guess my mistake was answering a question accurately. I’ll learn in the future to just lie, and people will be much more comfortable with that, or it will paint a different picture.
“But the fact is, wherever I’ve been, I’ve won things in my second year. I’ve got the possibility to do that here. I’m certainly not going to let that slip because some people are a little bit afraid of me actually telling them what my record is like.
“Why would I regret something that I’m proud of?”

That same belief and drive now take him to one of the biggest games of his career. A Europa League win with Spurs would be a major achievement. And for Postecoglou, it would be another reminder that when given time, he delivers.
Postecoglou has always believed in his way of doing things. Celtic fans saw that belief pay off in style. Now, he has one more big chance to do the same at Spurs. Whether he stays or goes, Wednesday’s final could be another huge moment in his managerial career.
