Celtic have been linked with a move for Gremio winger Aldemir dos Santos Ferreira, more commonly known as Ferreira. But who is he? and could he be Jota’s replacement?
Born in Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul, Ferreira started his football career at the Pró Gol School in his hometown. The school is affiliated with the Grêmio Football School.
Ferreira primarily plays as a Left Winger. However, his versatility on the field also allows him to take on the roles of a Right Winger and an Attacking Midfielder.
The 25yo hasn’t played in European football to this point. The Brazilian has become an important part of the Gremio side. He has amassed 125 apperances scoring 22 goals and grabbing 20 assists for his club. His first goal as a professional for Gremio came in just his third match when he opened the scoring for his club in ther victory against Cruzeiro.
Until last season, Ferreira hadn’t had any noteworthy injuries in his first team career. However, a muscle injury in August 2022 kept him out of the side for over four months. After getting back to full fitness, the winger then picked up an injury in late March which then kept him out until June.

The winger has been back in training and has made tentative steps to get back to full fitness as of late, making two appearances off the bench, his first piece of action this season.
At the age of 25, Football Scotland report, a move to European football would be something Ferreira would welcome. The same report claims Celtic have already opened talks. with the winger only having a year to run on his Gremio deal, it could be the perfect time for Celtic to swoop.
Would Ferreira be a good fit for Celtic?
He possesses a a lot of qualities that Celtic fans typically admire in their attacking players. His confidence and ability to dribble past opponents are particularly noteworthy, often leading to spectators rising to their feet in anticipation.
However, there are some concerns regarding his recent fitness levels and his lack of experience in European football. The question remains: can he deliver a strong performance under challenging conditions, such as on a cold December night in Dingwall?

If Celtic have made contact, you would imagine they have done their homework.
While it’s not been officially announced by the club yet, the deals for both South Korean players Yang Hyun Jun and Kwon Hyuk kyu is expetced to go through. Yang is also a winger, but at 21, will he be seen as a squad player when he comes through the door?
If Celtic were to put down a hard bit of cash for Ferreira, you’d imagine he’s be at the top of the pecking order.
