When Celtic’s Postponed Fixture Could Take Place

CELTIC has had their fixture against Livingston postponed after the Queen died on Thursday.

The country has entered a mourning period, with the end date unclear. Despite the Palace and Government not making it mandatory that football is to close down, this weekend’s SPFL fixtures will not take place and will be moved to a later date.

Celtic’s schedule was already hectic; with an international break just around the corner and the team playing two games a week, it’s going to be tough to find a new slot for the game.

To make matters worse, a World Cup has been scheduled to take place in the middle of the season.

The last of the action before Qatar 2022 will take place on the 12th of November, with the Hoops hosting Ross County. The league will commence again on the 17th of December, with a trip to Pittodrie lined up.

Looking at the fixtures on the SPFL website, there is a gap between the derby on Monday the 2nd of January and welcoming Killie Saturday the 7th. Could the SPFL manage to squeeze the games in here, even if it meant delaying Saturday’s fixtures to the 8th?

There’s no cup action midweek, with the fourth round of the Scottish Cup kicking off later in the month. The Premier Sports Cup final isn’t due to be played until the next month.

If the SPFL are looking to play the fixtures as soon as, Thursday 5th of January, or around that, that would be the date.

Nothing has been confirmed by the SPFL yet.
