What Brendan Rodgers Told His Celtic Players Before Aberdeen Win

Celtic hit Aberdeen for six on Sunday afternoon. The Hoops were at the top of their game throughout the victory.

Such a win was the perfect way for the Bhoys to respond to the midweek result against Atletico Madrid. They bounced back in style, and Brendan Rodgers has revealed his strong pre-match words to his players.

The Irishman told them that they must show resilience and put the trouncing behind them. He said (Football Scotland): “I said to the players before the game, throughout your footballing season and life you have painful points, but it is how you respond is where you are judged. I think if you look after St Johnstone here, we go to Rangers and win. After Feyenoord away, we go to Livingston and win.”

On Sunday, the Celts once more displayed their never-say-die attitude and ability to bounce back. This is something they continually do to utmost effectiveness, says Rodgers: “Obviously, we had a challenging game in midweek just because of the circumstances. It is then how you respond. I thought the players responded so, so well. They did great in the game, created numerous opportunities.”

Throughout the 90, it felt as though Celtic were constantly on top. They were utterly dominant over their opponents who would have been hugely disappointed with the final scoreline.
