Celtic midfielder David Turnbull has insisted that the Hoops confidence is high going into Wednesday’s second leg Champions League qualifying tie.
Last week, Ange Postecoglou’s side were unlucky not to come out of the game with more. Speaking to the club’s official website, Turnbull is insistent, though the squad remains confident, but it is crucial that they take their chances in the game.
Speaking after the weekend loss to West Ham United in a pre-season friendly at Celtic Park, Turnbull said: “I don’t think that defeat will affect our confidence too much ahead of Wednesday night.
“We got a good result in the first game here, and we’re looking to build on that now. We’re looking to show the kind of form we showed in midweek in the return game.
“We’re confident of going through. We feel we should have won the first game against them. We just need to create again, take our chances and be a bit more clinical.”
Saturday’s preparations weren’t ideal in terms of the result against a tough side.
However, after last week’s performance at Celtic Park against the Danish side, the squad will likely have taken confidence and belief from that.
That being said, FC Midtjylland is a good side, and it will be a tough take to get through to the next round of Champions League qualifying.
There is still nothing to fear for this young side, though, who have shown their capabilities against the same team last week.
Cutting out the silly mistakes will be crucial, but it is good to hear that the confidence remains within the group of players.
