Wembley Chance for Celtic Defender

Celtic loanee, Lee O’Connor could be set for another chance to play at Wembley, this month after missing out on that opportunity earlier this season.

O’Connor has spent this season on loan at League 2 side Tranmere Rovers and yesterday afternoon they secured a place in the playoffs in a 0-0 draw against Colchester as they look to gain promotion to League 1.

Rovers will now face a two-legged tie against Morecambe for the chance to make a return to the England National Stadium at the end of this month to play the winners of the other play-off semi-final, Newport County or Forest Green Rovers.

Earlier in the season, they made the trip to Wembley for the Papa’s John Trophy final losing out narrowly to Sunderland. However, O’Connor missed out on that trip due to a training ground knock.

So, the young Irish defender will be looking to kick on and make the playoff finals as he looks to end a good loan spell with a promotion at his current side.
