‘We’ll Be Ready’ – Midfielder Insists Squad Won’t Be Caught Off Guard

Celtic midfielder David Turnbull has insisted that the squad won’t be caught off guard as we prepare to face off for a second time against Hearts this season.

The Hoops were left extremely disappointed with the season opener away at Tynecastle, losing 2-1.

However, as quoted by the Scotsman, Turnbull claimed that Ange Postecoglou’s squad will be ready for the return fixture in the League Cup this weekend.

“That was the first game of the league season, and it was tough for us. We were still trying to gel together and it maybe came a bit soon but this time, we’ll be ready.

“It was a hard result for us to take because I thought we played well, although I knew there was still more to come from us. Now it’s their turn to come to Celtic Park, and the last few days have shown how well we are playing here, and we can’t wait to try to go and get another win.

“It was great to have the crowd back on Thursday, and the boys were all talking about how they pushed us forward. That was my first experience of it as a home player, although I came here a few years ago as a Motherwell player when it was full.

“Last season, the stands were empty, and it makes a big difference having them push you on.”

Since that fixture, the Celtic squad appear to have come on leaps in bounds in terms of the level of performance. Several of the new additions also look to have settled into the side and are showing the impact they can have.

Of course, there is still a lot of work to do under Ange, but the early signs are incredibly positive.

Many fans will be expecting a better display compared to the season opener, which saw us lose out. Hopefully, Turnbull and the squad will live up to this statement and send a message with the result on Sunday.
