“We Won’t Be Taking Any Backward Steps” – Ange Postecoglou

Ange Postecoglou is up against one of his toughest opponents so far this season in the Europa League as they take on Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in the first leg of their Europa League play-off final at a packed Parkhead.

Alkmaar is a step up in competition from anything this new and unfinished version of Celtic have faced so far. They finished third last season, just one point off second-placed PSV.

For tonight’s visit of AZ Alkmaar, the Celtic boss only made one change to the team that defeated Hearts 3-2 in Sunday’s victory over Hearts. It is good to see the manager keeping a very in form and an attacking Celtic side for each game.

Speaking with Celtic TV pre-match the Celtic boss said the following on tonight’s clash:

“I think it will be a bigger game, they are a good team but we are not going to take any backward steps.

On the mindset of his own team Ange said:

I hope they feel confident, speaking to them they seem up for the game and there is no real fatigue.”

Most Celtic fans would rather see their team go for the throat than been over cautious and defensive.
