We Need to Talk about Liam Scales

The void left in the left-back position will never be filled after the departure of Kieran Tierney, however, the competition for the spot is great and possibly underrated in our current squad.

Liam Scales started in Alloa as his side progressed to the next round, with Greg Taylor dropping to the bench after impressing in the previous game.

Scales provided Giakoumakis with an assist and was a constant threat down the left for the whole game. He delivered some great balls into the box, some low driven some floated in.

The Irishman offered a different threat than Greg Taylor who suits Postecoglou’s style of coming more central when in possession of the ball.

Greg is brilliant at linking up the play well and can float a ball, splitting the defence open. His only downfall is he struggles to beat a man.

Both players give it all for the badge when on the pitch.

Postecoglou now faces a headache heading to Tynecastle on Wednesday, Greg Taylor will most likely get the nod, but the former Shamrock Rovers man is certainly chapping on the manager’s door.
