We Need to Talk About Albian Ajeti

ALBIAN AJETI is two for two in pre-season and he’s not even played a full 90 minutes yet.

The Swiss striker was handed the captain’s armband for the first game of pre-season, leading out a very young side. The frontman got a goal against Sheffield Wednesday and on Saturday it was Charlton’s turn to concede to the Celtic forward.

It’s only been two games and we should never get carried away but there’s clearly a player in Ajeti if the manager can get it out of him.

Last season, the player had injuries and was in and out of the side, looking unfit and underwhelming. He’s come back to pre-season looking leaner and sharper before we’ve even properly got going, it has to bode well for the weeks and months ahead.

Ajeti appears to be a natural goalscorer who will get you goals in the penalty box. His hold up play can also bring our attacking midfielders and wingers into the game.

If Edouard is still at the club when the season starts, Ange Postecoglou has to decide if he goes with the Frenchman or sticks with Ajeti to give him the platform to succeed.

If Eddy is leaving, no matter how good he has been for us, shouldn’t we be using players who have a point to prove and who want to be here?
