Hoops Legend Scott Brown has reflected the views of numerous Celtic fans regarding the ongoing and exasperating misinformation about the away ticket allocation for the Glasgow Derby. The issue gained attention last month when Celtic, citing safety concerns at Ibrox Stadium as to why they wouldn’t be taking tickets in Govan, declined to accept Rangers fans at Celtic Park, as a result.
A Celtic insider informed CeltsAreHere that previously, eight Celtic fans had been injured at Ibrox, fueling the decision.
The root of the problem, however, lies with Rangers’ unilateral decision to significantly reduce the number of away tickets for Celtic fans, cutting the allocation by 90% and placing them in a vulnerable position in the stadium. This move was perceived by many as unjustified and possibly motivated by Celtic’s consistent success in matches at Ibrox, where they frequently outplayed Rangers.

The reduction in ticket allocation effectively dampened the celebratory atmosphere Celtic fans had enjoyed during these matches. When asked about the situation by Clyde One, Scott Brown suggested that the change was a reaction to Celtic’s winning streak: “I think it all stopped when we kept winning.. I think that’s maybe why that stopped”.
Celtic’s stance is clear: they are willing to restore the previous ticket arrangement if Rangers do the same. This dispute highlights the tense and competitive nature of the Glasgow Derby, where decisions off the field can significantly impact the dynamics of this longstanding rivalry.
