Celtic took a significant step towards clinching the Scottish Premiership title with a 2-1 victory over Rangers in Saturday’s fiercely contested Glasgow Derby at Celtic Park.

Matt O’Riley’s opened the scoring for the Hoops. The strike was notably a mirror image of Stewart Armstrong’s strike from a 2017 derby during Brendan Rodgers’ initial tenure with the club.
O’Riley’s goal, assisted by Callum McGregor, echoed Armstrong’s effort, which was set up by James Forrest seven years ago.
If you thought Matt O'Riley's goal today looked very familar, well, it's because it was.

The goal came at a pivotal moment and gave Celtic a substantial advantage in the title race, putting them six points clear with only two games remaining.
Despite Rangers being reduced to 10 men in the first half, Celtic dominated the match but struggled to convert numerous opportunities to extend their lead. The narrow scoreline belied Celtic’s control of the game and their chances created.
With the league title now firmly within reach, Celtic can secure the championship if they avoid defeat in their next match on Wednesday. A potential title celebration is set for next Saturday when they face St Mirren.
