Celtic forward Daizen Maeda made his mark by scoring for Japan against Peru.

Maeda, who started the match on the bench, replaced his Celtic teammate Kyogo Furuhashi in the 60th minute and made an immediate impact by scoring the fourth goal of the match.
The goal was reminiscent of Maeda’s stunning strike against Rangers at Ibrox in the New Year fixture. Seizing on a loose ball, Maeda found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Displaying composure and precision, he struck the ball low and hard.

The substitution of Maeda for Kyogo was one of several changes made during the match. Reo Hatate, another Celtic player who started the match, was replaced at half-time. Despite these changes, Japan maintained their momentum.
Maeda’s goal against Peru further cements his reputation as a reliable and effective forward, capable of making a significant impact whether he starts the match or comes on as a substitute. His ability to consistently find the back of the net, even in high-pressure situations, makes him a valuable asset for both his club and country.
It will be interesting to see what the future has in hold for the player when Brendan Rodgers makes his imprint on the squad.
