Watch: Daizen Maeda Give Celtic The Lead In Glasgow Derby

Daizen Maeda has given Celtic the lead against Rangers just 21 seconds into the match at Ibrox.

A James Tavernier no-look pass from a Joe Hart clearance deflected off Maeda and passed Jack Butland in the Rangers goal, leaving him with no chance.

Maeda’s high press caught the Rangers captain by surprise, despite the Japanese winger historically leaving Tavernier very little time on the ball in Glasgow derbies.

Maeda has really looked at his best in recent weeks on the left-hand side, having played on the right for the first half of the season.

Maeda’s technical ability may sometimes be questioned, but one thing is clear: in his ability to press opponents, he is among the very best in the world.

With much of the media tipping Rangers to win the game, Celtic have gotten off to the best possible start in such a crucial game.

Celtic have pressed high at every opportunity, in a real show of intent, despite no Hoops supporters in attendance at the game.
