Celtic’s season may have come to an end a number of weeks ago although the same cannot be said for some of the club’s players.
Indeed captain Callum McGregor only played his last game of the 2022/23 campaign on Tuesday evening.
At one point, it seemed as though Scotland’s Euro 2024 qualifier was never going to end amid torrential rain and a waterlogged pitch yet the groundsmen came through and the game went ahead.
Prior to the delay, however, Scotland already took the lead thanks to McGregor.

From a corner, the ball fell to the midfielder on the edge of the box and he scored with power into the bottom corner:

This goal undoubtedly set the tone for the evening and it was only McGregor’s third for his nation.
It was a strike that was crucial as ever and it put an idealistic end to what has been yet another standout campaign from Celtic’s captain fantastic.
