Brendan Rodgers couldn’t resist taking aim at his critics after Celtic’s 4-0 victory over St Johnstone at Celtic Park.

The Hoops extended their unbeaten domestic run and surged 14 points clear of Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership, putting on a dominant display against the league’s bottom side.
Goals from Nicolas Kuhn, Daizen Maeda, and a Kyogo brace underlined Celtic’s superiority as they reached 52 league goals for the season while conceding just four.
After the match, Rodgers was quick to respond to criticism about Celtic’s style of play. Speaking to BBC Sportsound, the manager sarcastically dismissed claims that his team lacks attacking intent or tempo:
“Not bad for a team that doesn’t play attacking football, that plays very slow and the tempo isn’t there. So we are doing okay,” Rodgers quipped.

It was a pointed rebuttal to those who have questioned the dynamism of his side, despite their dominant performances and brilliant stats.
The numbers speak for themselves. Celtic have dropped points in just two games this season, both draws, and their unbeaten record remains intact. With 52 goals scored and only four conceded, the Hoops are demonstrating unparalleled consistency at both ends of the pitch.
The Perth side, rooted to the bottom of the table, had no answer to Celtic’s relentless attacking play and solid defensive organisation.
The victory marked another milestone for Celtic as they completed an undefeated calendar year at home in all domestic competitions—an achievement not seen since 2006. The commanding display against St Johnstone ensured the Hoops ended 2024 on a high in front of their fans.
The January 2nd derby against Rangers at Ibrox looms large on the horizon. While Celtic hold a commanding lead, Rodgers will see the clash as an opportunity to further cement their dominance in the title race.
With a relentless schedule that includes Champions League fixtures and domestic cup ties, Rodgers’ squad depth will be tested. However, based on current form, Celtic look more than capable of maintaining their momentum.
