Celtic loanee Alexandro Bernabei is going from strength to strength in Brazil, and that was no more apparent than last night when he put in a man-of-the-match display in Internacional’s 3-1 win away to Atletico MG.
The left-back won the penalty, which led to his side’s opener. Then, with a fine finish, he found the back of the net to give Internacional a two-goal lead.

Marauding down the wing, Bernabei latched onto a through pass and first time, lashed the ball into the bottom right corner:

To add to his prosperous evening, the 24-year-old then set up Tabata in the second half. Driving inside on the bye-line, Bernabei fizzed the ball back to the wide midfielder, who did the rest.
The Argentinian’s antics last night brought his tally of goal contributions to seven in 16 league games this year.
Bernabei has firmly established himself as one of Brazil’s best left-backs.
Every time Bernabei puts in a terrific display like last night’s, Celtic can demand even more money from Internacional if they want to buy him permanently.
The Hoops signed the defender for Β£3.75m [Sky Sports] back in 2022 and, given his performances, will decide whether to cash in or perhaps give him another opportunity in the first team when his loan expires at the end of the calendar year.
Stranger things have happened than a Bernabei Celtic revival, although he does seem to have found the perfect environment to thrive in Brazil with his loan club.
