Former Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama has shared his excitement after completing a move to Dunfermline Athletic on Wednesday, linking up with his former Celtic manager Neil Lennon. Wanyama, a key player in Celtic’s historic win over Barcelona at Celtic Park, will now be working under Lennon again, and the Kenyan international is hoping for a good turnout of Celtic supporters at Dunfermline’s upcoming matches.

A Special Reunion with Neil Lennon
Wanyama, who spent two successful years at Celtic, admitted he was looking forward to working with Lennon once more. “I’ve spoken to Neil and I’m excited to join the team. Neil is someone I know very well, and I have huge respect for him,” Wanyama said: (The Celtic Way). “I’m hoping we can bring some success to Dunfermline and give the fans something to cheer about.”
The 33-year-old also expressed his hopes of seeing some familiar faces in the stands. “I hope we’ll have some Celtic fans come along to cheer us on. It’s always great to see them and I know they’ll be behind us as we try to push the club up the table,” he added.
A Reunion with Scott Brown at Somerset Park
This Saturday, Wanyama will face a familiar former teammate when Dunfermline travel to Somerset Park to take on Ayr United. The match promises to be a particularly emotional one, as former Celtic captain Scott Brown is now in charge of Ayr United.
Wanyama spoke warmly about his former teammate, who was an integral part of Celtic’s midfield during their time together. “I haven’t spoken to Scott yet, but I’ll definitely reach out to him soon,” he said. “He’s a great guy, a fantastic manager, and a true leader. I’ll always respect him, both as a player and as a manager.”
The fact that both Lennon and Wanyama share the same birthday as Brown makes this encounter even more surreal. “It feels like a bit of a fairy tale,” Wanyama reflected. “It’s going to be really special, especially as we all share the same birthday. As a midfielder, I learned a lot from both the gaffer and Broony, and now we’re on opposite sides – it feels like destiny.”

A Day of Celtic Connections
For Wanyama, it’s a chance to showcase his leadership and experience with Dunfermline while respecting the legacy of his Celtic days. And for Celtic fans, it’s an opportunity to see one of their former stars back in action with a manager they know well.
