The Dutch internationalist who spent two years at Celtic posted “It was nice to be back in Glasgow.” Reminding everyone of his Celtic connection.

Van Dijk arrived at the Hoops under the management of Neil Lennon from Groningen and very quickly became one of the top performers at the club.

He was a total joy to watch and as well as being a rock at the back, liked to score a goal with Van Dijk at times being the man who got Celtic three points under Neil Lennon or Ronny Deila.
Although the Dutchman spent two years in Glasgow, until last night the Liverpool man had never played at Ibrox with Rangers being in the lower tiers of Scottish football.
His only previous game against the Ibrox side came in a 2-0 victory in the Scottish League Cup semi-final when he absolutely cruised it.
That day the clip of him charging forward and using his strength past Nicky Law was born.
After the Hoops failed to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League for a second year in a row, he headed to Southampton for a reported £13 million which included add ons for the Scottish champions.
Very quickly he started to catch the eye of many in the Premier League before his eventual move to Liverpool.
At Anfield he has become one of the best defenders in the world and was a huge part of the success experienced under Jurgen Klopp of winning the Champions League and the Premier League which the Merseyside club hadn’t won in 30 years.
