VIRGIL VAN DIJK was playing the diplomat when the Dutch defender was interviewed by FourFourTwo ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League tie against Bayern.
The former Celtic star was asked what set of fans were better at singing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ and instead of saying the team he was currently with he refused to give an answer to the question…I wonder why.
Speaking to the magazine he said: “Both. I can’t pick one, as that’s like choosing between your children!
“Sometimes people underestimate the power the fans have on us.”
If he thought Liverpool fans were better he would have said it…
Virgil spent two seasons at Celtic, signed by the current interim boss Neil Lennon at the time. The player was sold to Southampton for £12million where he again excelled until Liverpool came calling for a whopping £75million, making him the most expensive defender in football.
Since making the move to Liverpool the defender has already played in a Champions League final and is part of a team challenging for the title. We always knew he was a class act, just like he knows who really sings the anthem better! 😉
