ANGE POSTECOGLOU made five changes heading into Wednesday’s match after a rotated squad was fielded on Saturday.

Guys like James Forrest and Giorgos Giakoumakis dropped to the bench, despite scoring five goals between themselves on Saturday. Maeda, who came on from off the bench at the weekend and scored, also started on the bench for the cup tie.
Postecoglou was asked about how he dealt with telling players they wouldn’t be in the starting team for a match. He joked that he put the team news on the wall and avoided those who didn’t make the starting eleven.

It’s one of the beauties of having a big squad. The manager can rotate players and swap like for like. However, it leaves some top players on the bench, which is hard for a player to take, especially if they scored a brace or hat trick in the prior game.
Postecoglou’s man management is top-class, and the players know that the team will be rotated and they will get their chance on the pitch.
