The centre-back has been subject to intense speculation in recent times but Mario is continuing his pre-season preparations with Hadjuk Split.

We haven’t heard much else in a few days about the potential move to Celtic Park for the defender. Celtic fans are hoping the club are down the line with a number of singings with the Champions League qualifiers three weeks away.

It would appear Mario likes a penalty.

Celtic still have to settle the future of Kristoffer Ajer but if they do sell the Norwegian in the next three weeks we are left extremely short for the qualifiers.

A defence consisting of Greg Taylor, Stephen Welsh, Nir Bitton and Anthony Ralston could be a reality against FC Midtjylland.

We have left it so late, even if players do come in, they’re not going to be able to hit the ground running so fast that they can be an asset in these early ties.
