Celtic were victorious on the road on Saturday at lunchtime as goals from Reo Hatate, Matt O’Riley, and Daizen Maeda ensured three points were sealed at the Tony Macaroni Arena. There was no shortage of drama in the match, with a sending-off, penalty, and much more.
One particular point for discussion came in the first half, when Liam Scales went in for, what appeared to be, a 50-50 challenge with Livi’s midfielder Mohammed Sangare. The 24-year-old, though, completely took Scales out:
How was Scales booked for this?

Sangare was lucky to stay on the pitch following this tackle, which Liam Scales was mesmerisingly booked for. How John Beaton came to this prognosis one will never understand.

It was an utterly bizarre decision from the referee. Sangare could have broken the centre-back’s leg on another day.
Scales didn’t let Beaton’s verdict faze him, however, as he went on to put in a formidable display at the heart of the Hoops’ defence. He and Gustaf Lagerbielke have now started three league games together and kept clean sheets in all three.
