Victor Wanyama made a surprise return to Scottish football this week, signing for Dunfermline Athletic as they battle to avoid the drop in the Championship.
The move reunites the former Celtic midfielder with Neil Lennon, who was recently appointed Pars boss in a bid to steady the ship.
Wanyama, now 33, was a standout in the heart of Celtic’s midfield under Lennon during his first spell as manager, famously scoring against Barcelona in that memorable Champions League win at Parkhead in 2012.

His return to Scotland may not have the glamour of those European nights, but it carries significance for a Dunfermline side looking for experience and steel.
The Kenyan spoke of his hopes for the project and sent a direct message to the Celtic support.
“I hope we’ll have some Celtic fans come along to cheer us on. It’s always great to see them and I know they’ll be behind us as we try to push the club up the table,” Wanyama told RecordSport.
His appeal to the Hoops support might not be in vain. There will likely be fans in the Dunfermline area that take him up on the offer.
Lennon’s appointment has already sparked interest, and Wanyama’s arrival only adds to the intrigue. The Pars have struggled for form this season, but with two familiar faces from Celtic’s past now in the dugout and on the pitch, there’s fresh hope they can turn things around.
Celtic fans, well aware of the strong bond between Wanyama and the club, will certainly keep an eye on his progress. Whether they travel or tune in, the big midfielder’s return to Scottish football has caught attention.
