Very Valid Reason for Obvious Celtic Snub

Some Celtic fans were miffed this morning on social media as the SWFA Young player of the year nominees have snubbed several Hoops players.

Remarkably Stephen Welsh and Nathan Patterson made the list leading many to moan about others being excluded.

The biggest gripe we read from a lot of Celtic fan accounts is the exclusion of Liel Abada. Fortunately, there’s a very good explanation for Liel not making the cut. The award among the football writers is only contested by Scottish born players. It’s why there are slim pickings this year and no real Celtic standout.

Stephen Welsh has played a part in Celtic’s season but he can’t really be considered a young stand out if you’re being objective. Patterson has gone to Everton and played little before that.

It would be strange if either won the award.

The other nominees are Calvin Ramsey, Josh Doig and Ross Graham.

Celtic still have their player of the season awards to come where there should be proper recognition for many of the Celtic players without the caveats in the SWFA award here.
